One of our favorite projects to take on at Smart Exteriors is siding replacement. The siding is a critical element in the home’s protection and curb appeal. Without proper siding options, the home is left unprotected against the elements and looks visually disappointing if not unattractive. When done right, new siding can address those issues to make something better than what’s left behind.
As a provider of James Hardie siding in Lee’s Summit, we were tasked with the Snow siding project. The home in question was located in Lee’s Summit, MO and built in 1986. The home still had the original wood composite siding that was installed when the house was originally built. Over the years, the siding became rotted and decayed in several places across the house. The mission was to replace the siding with new siding that would offer better moisture resistance with a lower need for maintenance—a challenge that we were confident to take on.
Our team of experts at Smart Exteriors got started by first cutting out all of the existing rotten siding and replacing it with new, high-performance OSB sheathing. This sheathing material serves as a strong and durable protective layer that sits between the home and the siding about to be installed.
The owner decided on pre-finished James Hardie lap siding finished in James Hardie’s Pearl Gray color tone. The pearl gray color is a gorgeous shade of gray that sticks to the modern neutral approach while adding an extra visual dimension thanks to the pearl-like shine that is captivating in the sunlight. We took the modern approach further by offsetting the gray siding with James Hardie pre-finished trim in Arctic White—a popular James Hardie siding Lee’s Summit homeowners choose frequently in their home renovations. The house also featured stucco on the front, which was repaired and painted with Sherwin-Williams’ Elastomeric Stucco coating that matched the Pearl Gray coating.
When it was all said and done, the owner had a beautifully redesigned and more modern house that offered unmatched durability and a lifetime of value. Thanks to the high performance of James Hardie siding, this is one project that will offer endless benefits for years to come– making the Snow Siding Project an excellent investment for the homeowner and another successful project in our portfolio for our team at Smart Exteriors.
